A good quality industrial vacuum cleaner can do a lot for your business’s everyday upkeep. These machines come in a wide range of models and sizes and, with the right attachments, may be utilized to achieve optimal cleanliness throughout your space. That said, some industries demand a more convenient, holistic approach to their housekeeping process – and they look to a centralized vacuum system (CVS) as their solution.
When adequately set up with the right pieces, a CVS not only assists with cleanliness, but it also becomes an integral part of your operation as it helps you optimize efficiency and maintain compliance. In this post, we’ve highlighted the primary elements of a CVS so you may get a better glimpse into how these systems work as a whole to benefit your processes.
1. The Suction Unit
Let’s start with suction. At Delfin, we manufacture suction units (mobile or fixed) with up to 34hp motors. Why is power so important when it comes to your centralized vacuum system? Well, for one, you need enough power to draw material from multiple suction points – some of which may be on the opposite end of your operation from the vacuum unit.
Your suction unit—and the power it bears—will also be determined by the material you’re extracting. Some materials require a certain airflow measurement (measured by cubic feet per minute) and others may demand significant water lift (the measurement of how high water may be lifted).
Whatever the need, suction units and their place in CVS may be personalized to fit the demands of your industry and operation. At Delfin, we have the knowledge and resources necessary to help you pinpoint the suction needs of your production.
2. Multiple, Easy-to-Access Suction Points
While the suction unit is the heart of a functional CVS, the suction points meet workers where they’re at and are an unsung hero of this process. You may have several suction points installed throughout the facility – and even have direct extraction points attached to your machinery.
When fully optimized, a CVS will also enable workers to operate suction from different points simultaneously. This can both provide convenience and efficiency to their process and make for a less muddled work environment.
3. High-Efficiency Filters
You’ve likely heard of high-efficiency filter units (or HEPA filters – “high-efficiency particulate air”), or you’ve heard about the necessity of filters with significant material trapping qualities. These filters are not only important for maintaining clean air in your facility, but also for the long-term maintenance of machinery. Delfin HEPA filters trap dust at 99.995% efficiency or 0.18 microns.
Dealing with combustible dust? Your CVS setup may also be completed with anti-static filters to help prevent disasters, protecting your workers and your investment.
4. Convenient Collection Unit
Retaining and disposing of your dust and material should be simple. Collection units of a centralized vacuum system are typically built with ease in mind. Between the benefits of easy disposal and safe, single point collection, the qualities of a stellar collection unit shouldn’t go overlooked. Additional solutions provided by these collection units include extractable containers, Longopac systems, and rotary cells for continuous discharge.
5. Must-Have Accessories
Having the necessary accessories for a centralized vacuum system is just as vital as having adequate suction and collection points. Hose attachments can help you get to those hard-to-access points like overhead spaces for thorough extraction. We recommend that you color-code your attachments and other accessories to prevent cross-contamination and keep a generally organized environment.
There’s Even a Remote Control
Your CVS may be operated using a remote control, allowing you to have access to the various integrated functions of the system. You can also remotely monitor your CVS.
Water Separators
Some operations may deal with high-temperature material and waste that have the potential to damage hardware throughout the facility (including the suction process itself). That’s where a water separator comes into play. If you use high-temperature materials, we recommend a separator be installed as part of your CVS.
